Imagination on a shoestring
I had a hunch two weeks ago and reached out to a random contact named Kynthia (friend of a friend) on Facebook to ask if she wanted to help with art for OUATIB. It was an idea that had been percolating in my brain for a few weeks. We talked last week, and she’s been furiously scrambling on her end — and coming up with some cool designs for tshirts, stickers and credits. We have a design meeting this afternoon. I’m really looking forward to it.
Yesterday she emailed me to tell me about her film background. Turns out she did film for a number of years, then got out because she wasn’t finding the quality work she was hoping for.
“Film is looking really promising now,” she said.
Looks like Team Hunch hit it out of the park.
— Selected Kynthia Facebook status updates for the past week —
Kynthia — i love the feathery edge that construction paper gets after tearing along a fold that has been licked.
Kynthia — work research. no, seriously. also doubles as late-night public service announcement.
Kynthia — seems to be in the midst of gluing torn up pieces of a printout of a digital image onto a piece of aluminum foil so that she can tear it apart again and make a collage involving mat board and construction paper, spill hot sauce on it, and then scan the result as a new digital image. because adobe hasn’t invented the “kynthia + Nick Blake + imagination on a shoestring” filter yet. their loss.
